Hi, I just did the update yesterday and noticed the change that it now uses the “default role” instead of using “Subscriber”. I understand this is because of Paypal issues.
Question is, I’ve set my default role to be “Subscriber” (as this is the role I want for members) and I’ve done a few tests signing up and cancelling before completing the Paypal. I have locked down pages for members only that seem to work and block an unpaid user out. But,,I have some widgets on the page that point to these pages (WP Download Manager) and those widgets seem to bypass the page and allow the unregistered user in.

I guess my question is, is there somewhere in the code of the latest update that I can kind of change it back to the way it was??

If I had my default role set as “Visitor”, then even if the customer cancelled, they still couldn’t see anything. But once they completed payment, then they were changed to “Subscriber” by PMP like before.

btw, I am using the paypal standard as the payment option.

    Thanks
    Daryl

Forgot to mention, I still set the default role as visitor, as the update said it still changes the user and uses “Subscriber” as its default.
But I’ve ran tests and after payment, it doesn’t seem to change the user to Subscriber?? It remains at whatever the default role was set too?

    Thanks

    Hi ntech21,

I’ll try to answer your question to the best of my ability. PMPro will use the “default role” as set in your WP settings.

As far as the widgets, you’ll need to make sure they are hidden from non-members since they will still have a user account. Perhaps your “visitor” role will hide widgets from non-members? PMPro does not check for membership level in widgets by default. This will have to be done manually with code or the shortcode.

Here’s a post regarding changing a user’s role when their membership level changes: http://www.paidmembershipspro.com/2011/10/give-new-members-author-role/.

    Hope this helps!

    Hi ntech21,

Just wondering if there was any update on whether or not my reply above has helped you?

    Thank You

    Hi ntech21,

I’m going to resolve this thread. Please open a new one if the issue persists.

    Thank You
