    Hello!

I just developed a new WP site in a subfolder (wordpress1) on a new host. The IT guy for the client changed the DNS stuff to point from their old site (on another host) to this location. Everything is running fine.

    So this: http://www.xsbrokers.com
    points to: http://03576a8.netsolhost.com/wordpress1/

Which is kinda nasty . I have already tried all the steps including changing the htaccess files, moving and changing the index.php file into the root directory, changing the siteURL and wordpress URL in the options panel and changing the permalink structures.

This is as far as I got: When you go to http://xsbrokers.com/ it goes to the correct location and the url displays http://xsbrokers.com/ BUT when you navigation to any other pages, the URL reverts back to something like:
    http://03576a8.netsolhost.com/wordpress1/about-us/

Any suggestions? Is this something to do with the DNS settings?

PS: I also have some private pages on here that I would also like to have displayed with the friendlier URL.

    THanks!

Remove the redirect and then see See Giving_WordPress_Its_Own_Directory.

    Hey semi,

I did that step-by-step and then I go to the site (www.xsbrokers.com), it goes to my 404 error page...

I also edited the htaccess file when I updated the permalinks but no good.

the redirect in the htaccess file? Yes. Or do you mean the DNS stuff (which I know almost nothing about)?

Ah! SO he undoes the redirect then I follow the instructions for Giving_WordPress_Its_Own_Directory and I'm good?

I hate dealing with internal IT groups...

Finally got it straightened out - I have to login into our Network Solutions hosting account and make edits to site and home directly within the WP database using phpMySQL - after that I reset the permalinks and everything seemed to work.

    Thanks for all your help!
