This is a n00b question honestly. I'm not a developer but am managing a page until we get somebody. I installed your plug-in and it looks pretty good. But I'm curious how to make a custom URL.

We purchased some ad space in a magazine and I'd like to get a custom URL, say (domain.com/savemoney)or something like that. How do I go about doing this with your software? Is there a way to change it through the plugin? Or do I have to do some funky code to make a redirect to the actual URL?

    Thanks in advance.

I suppose I am looking for how to have a display url in a print ad take a viewer to a destination URL. How do I do this?

Use a plugin like redirection to create any vanity URL you wish.

Then you can create a url like http://mysite.com/AWESOMESAUCE and put it in your print ad.

You will probably want to use UTM tokens to track success of the campaign

So I've installed Redirection and have spent quite a bit of time trying to get my URL to redirect. Iv'e been following the instructions to a T but I keep getting 404s:

    Not Found

The requested URL /gelpens was not found on this server.

Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.

I've noticed that in the module section of Redirection it says that Permalinks are not set, but I mean really they are. Could that be the issue?

Not sure. You will need to contact that developer.

Custom Redirects are tricky in WordPress.

You can also try WordPress SEO. It does redirects as well
