• I’m totally new at this and have been searching Google and here for an answer and haven’t really gotten anywhere. Sorry if this question has been asked a thousand times, but I can’t figure it out. Basically what I want to do is change the url where my blog is. Right now it’s like http://www.___.com/wordpress, and I just want it to be http://www.____.com How do I do that? I’ve seen tutorials on how to change domains, but I’m still using the same domain, I’m just want to remove the /wordpress part from the domain. Thanks for the help.

  • @wakeupinflames the /wordpress is because of where you initially installed all of your files. If you check out the Codex and pay attention to the section about root directory vs. subdirectory it should make more sense.

You don’t need to change your domain but what you do need to do is after downloading and extracting all of your WP files, be sure that you only upload the stuff INSIDE the ‘wordpress’ folder and NOT the folder itself.
