Change Titles & Home Page (2 posts)

    Hi all

I am used to working on wordpress.com, but I have recently put wordpress on my new website and I'm noting some differences.

The main one that is bugging me right now is that I can't seem to access/edit my "home" page. I would like to change the title of the home page if that is possible.

I would also like to order my pages specifically, and I found the place where, for each page, you can give it a number instead of it running alphabetically, but that doesn't seem to be working (and I am wondering if this is related to the fact that I can't edit my home page at all and hence give it a number).

Finally is there any way to have something different than the title of a page appear in the tabs area. If for example I wanted a page that was called "The Reason You Should Read This Blog" but in the tab area I just want that page called About Me or something like that.

Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

The template tag, wp_list_pages(), is used by many themes to display Pages as navigation menu items.
    1. The home page is many times hard-coded in a theme's header.php file so you may need to find and delete that reference.
    2. Use the wp_list_pages() argument sort_column=menu_order to sort your Pages in the Order you specified.
    3. Use a plugin such as Page Links To, then create the About page and make it redirect to "The Reason You Should Read This Blog" page. Of course you would add the wp_list_pages() exclude=x (where x is the ID for your "The Reason You Should Read This Blog" page) to exclude that page from your menu.
