Change the Style of preformatted in the post editor

    I am setting a blog up for someone who needs preformatted code for aspects of many posts but I want to style it differently. I can style

     in my CSS easy enough but I want to add the same style to the 
     in the editor.  Is that:
a) Unwise
b) Easy to do or tricky

If it's not fraught with danger I would appreciate a few pointers.

    Sorry, somehow that post got a bit garbled?

    All I want to achieve is to have the preformatted text render the same in the editor as it does on the site (more or less). How can I target the <pre> in the post editor?
