Hi is there any way to change the Static Home page from the first 7 post to the most recent?

    Thanks!

    Hey Adrienne,
I'm not sure if I understand your question correctly. Your site is currently showing 1 Post with 7 Comments ("Thoughts").

If you want your 7 Comments listed as most recent first:
    1. Go to your WP Dashboard
    2. Click Settings
    3. Click Discussion
    5. And change: "Comments should be displayed with the [older] comments at the top of the page" to [newer].

If you want something different, can you let me know what Theme you're using and if you have more than one Post published, but they're just not showing up?

    Hi Justin,

Thanks for the quick reply! I am using the Something Fish Theme and that does not seem to change it. Ithink it is something in theme and I am not quite clear on how to make the adjustment.

Any other suggestions would be appreciated!

It's hard to know exactly what's happened without knowing more information. Right now it doesn't look like a styling or coding error, but an issue with a setting you've changed on the back-end.

What change did you make to show comments on the home page? Is that supposed to be a static page or a list of recent posts? Any plug-ins installed?

With a fresh install of the theme and with default WordPress settings the
site should display like the Live Demo: (http://somethingfishydemo.wordpress.com/).

Adding another post and throwing up a couple comments to it might help show a pattern in the code and help figure out what's going on.

I switched from the Post page to a static page for my home page and I am just using the default template. The description of the Theme does not say how you are supposed to configure this and I cannot see where it is set. So they give you the option of a static home page in the theme which is what I chose not the current blog posts -I set that to another page. So this is what comes with the Theme. Just trying to see how to customize this theme - or maybe it is not possible.

Sorry I couldn't be of more help.

I'm not able to replicate your situation. Even when I change the Theme to a static page for the home page like you have it, the comments are still showing up in whatever order I've set in the Dashboard.

You're absolutely sure that no matter what you choose for the Comment Order setting (Older or Newer) in the Discussion Settings the order doesn't change?

Is there a way to do a "fresh install" of the theme?

I can confirm that the theme itself does not alter the order of comments. It appears that newer top-level comments are indeed showing at the top, but nested comments will not. You probably need to disable nested comments in Settings -> Discussion.
