Is it possible to change what widgets appear on the sidebar or footer within different pages using the "static" setting? I want different look and feel on some of the pages, but don't know how to specify the widgets to be active on some pages but not on others. Thanks.

This is what I've been using, After install you can specify where each widget shows or hides from a link on each widget.
If you want, widgets can be specific to categories or user roles.
as well as pages.
