Change of website url (8 posts)

I have a wordpress site built on a sub folder of my domain name.
I'm now ready to launch the site and the DNS for new url has been been changed to point to my IP address and the new url has been set-up as a add-on URL via my host control panel.
The site is now resolving fine through the new url but obviously all the links are still showing up as http://www.mydomain.com/subfolder
Am I right in thinking if I update the Site Address (URL) under Settings to the new URL this will this fix all these links... or will it break the site?
    Thanks!

I've read this page: http://codex.wordpress.org/Changing_The_Site_URL but it has confused me. Do I have to make the changes manually?

Before you do anything, see Giving_WordPress_Its_Own_Directory

Now I'm even more confused.. my sub-domain is now my root domain.

Effectively my site currently co-exists at both: http://www.mydomain.com/subfolder and http://www.clientsdomain.com

WordPress was installed into http://www.mydomain.com/subfolder which is now the root of http://www.clientsdomain.com

So you just want to change the urls?

Yes :-) But I didn't want to risk breaking it. Never gone about it this way before, usually always built on already re-routed domain name.
So will changing the Site Address (url) be ok in this case?

Yes - it will. But I'd suggest waiting until the DNS changes have fully propagated (which can take up to 72 hours) before making the change - otherwise you may end up with a broken site that you cannot login to for a few days.
