Change mySql database name (created WP on a test server) (3 posts)

I set up our first WP on our test server and named the database (mySQL/phpMyAdmin)according to the domain name on our test server.

Then I made the stupid mistake of actually BUILDING the content for the site, installing plug ins etc.

Now I need to make the site live under the clients domain name - and I need to change the database name to reflect who's database it really is now. BLAH. Dumb girl. :)

So - we have a windows server, MySql V5.5.51a, phpmyadmin V3.3.3-rc1, and I have no exerience with this. ;-)

Any help would be appreciated. Danke!

Never mind, I figured it out. phpMyAdmin is a beautiful thing. :)

    http://www.ruhanirabin.com/wp-optimize/

This plugin is used to optimize the database but it has an option for changing the user name (which in turn should change the database name) as well.

Please give it a try and let me know if it works.

Don't forget to backup the database before you do...
