    Hi,

    I am creating a site using the twenty eleven theme. I am making changes using a child theme.

    I have looked an have found many answers online on how to change the width of the content area and margins on a single column page (no side bars).

    Any solution I have found and put into my styles.css has no effect on the widths.

    Can anyone either point me to a definitive answer, or take a look at my site and tell me what I am doing wrong?

    Thanks.

    Your site is asking for a password...and then gives a 404 error.

    Ok .. Please take a look now. Any help appreciated.

    PS .. I was able to increase the margins a bit using Firebug on the following:

    .singular #content, .left-sidebar.singular #content {
    margin: 0 7.6%;
    position: relative;
    width: auto;
    }

    But I am not positive if that is the best way to do it as it didn't have a huge effect on it when I changed 7.6% to .6% or even 0.

    Thanks.

    margin was the wrong keyword - see:

    .singular .entry-header,
    .singular .entry-content,
    .singular footer.entry-meta,
    .singular #comments-title {
    	margin: 0 auto;
    	width: 68.9%;
    }

    Hi,

    Just so I am sure what you are saying .. Can I find what you posted above in the parent styles as is (where I can cut and paste into child styles? Or is this your modification that I need to just cut and paste into my child css and make changes?

    Also .. I may want to do the same for a right sidebar page. Any help there?

    Finally, I assume that what you mean by "margin wrong key word" is that I was to focus on the word "width"?

    Thanks a ton Alch!

    OH MY ..

    Ok .. I have not seen this code anywhere that Alch has provided. but I cut and pasted into my child theme and changed teh percentage value in "width' and BAM!! The content space got bigger and margins smaller!!

    This is what I am talking about .. There are some people out there who are just happy as a clam to help out and provide good answers. Peeps like us are EVER SO GRATEFUL!

    Thank a ton.

    Hoping to see code for changing margin and content widths on a sidebar page, but that is much less important. However, I am curious see so I can play with it.

    Thanks again Alch!
