    |’m trying to change the language of my running wordpress from English to Dutch. I’ve added the dutch language files in /wp-content/languages and changed the wp-config file, however the language doesn’t change.

    WordPress does recognize the changes, as it now shows on the update-core.php page it shows the Dutch version is installed. I tried re-installing 3.8.1-nl_NL, but this doesn’t make a difference.

    What am I doing wrong?

  • Have you copied all language files? It is weird that it does not work either when you re-install the NL version…

    Do you mean that you want Dutch for the back-end (when logged in) by the way?

    For the theme (front-end) you should copy the language files to /wp-content/languages/themes.

    My goal is to change both the back- and front-end.

    I’ve copied the entire languages folder from the Dutch wordpress package. The files that are in the languages folder are:
    -admin-network-nl_NL.mo/po
    -admin-nl_NL.mo/po
    -continents-cities-nl_NL.mo/po
    -nl_NL.mo/po

    For the front-end I have made a translation and put the translated files in the /languages/themes folder. They are named <theme_name-nl_NL.mo/po>.

    And wp-config.php is set up like this: define(‘WPLANG’, ‘nl_NL’);

    So I think all files are in the right place, but nothing changes at the website. Is there a log where a possible problem can be tracked down in?

    Nobody? Still haven’t found the solution…

    I have the same problem…
