When I set it up I wanted just to have a link on my original website for this blog but it has taken the place of my homepage. Can anyone tell me how to fix this please?

If you already have web content (an index file, etc.) that you want to keep in the root level of your domain, then it is best to install WordPress in its own subdirectory. To move your WordPress, see: http://codex.wordpress.org/Moving_WordPress

Thanks for the help but unfortunately I am still lost as a goose when it comes to all of the computer language. I have a ministry site that I was trying to just add a blog link on it's home page but I have replaced it now and no one can get into our site, only the blog. So I tried changing the URi addresses but now I cant even get into the administration site of the blog to change anything else. Is there a way I can just disable WordPress all together and go back to my original website?

sounds like you overwrote your original websites index file with wordpresses - probably because you uploaded wordpress into your root directory instead of its own directory.
Assuming you have backup copies of your websites files, just upload your original index.html file to the root and delete the index.php file that wp uses. Then you can create a new directory on your server named something like /wordpress and either move your existing wp files and folder theier, or delete them and reupload everyting recursively to create the necessary subdirectories under wp.
