You will need to start customising your theme’s CSS – ideally via a child theme or custom CSS plugin. I’d recommend using Firefox with the Firebug add-on for this kind of CSS work.

Are you saying that I need to use the firefox web browser and then download ghe getfirebug? (Sorry, I imagine you are shaking your head right now)
That’s exactly what I’d recommend, yes. 🙂
IE and Chrome have their own built-in developer tools that you can use but I’ve found that they are nowhere near as powerful or useful as Firebug & Firefox.
if you do not use Firefox, there are other browser inspection tools for various browsers – for instance Chrome’s developer tools, or use web search to find out for your browser.
ok. I downloaded firefox and added the getfirebug. What do I do now?
Right click and use Inspect Element with Firebug to examine any element/section of the page. The right pane should show you what CSS is being applied and, therefore, what CSS needs to be added to your child theme or custom CSS plugin.
OK. Thanks esmi. I will take a run at it.
esmi – I have made my changes and it worked in the preview but I cant figure out how to save the change. Can you tell me the obvious? thanks.
Jack
Firebug just lets you preview your changes, You now have to add them to your child’s stylesheet or to your custom css plugin.
