Change ''From'' Address for Confirmation Email (7 posts)

    I did a fairly thorough search, and didn't find an answer, so I'm trying here...

    My client is using WP 2.3.2, and wants to change the FROM: address on confirmation emails sent out to new users. Right now the email is coming from the address wordpress@theirdomainname.com, and they'd like it to come from webmaster@theirdomainname.com.

    Where do I make that change? I was not involved in the original install, so I don't know where the current FROM: email address was initially set.

    Is it possible with this version? Upgrading versions may not be an option, depending on their budget.

    Thanks in advance...

    I read that article, and it doesn't really address what I'm talking about.

    The only email being sent out from the client's WP is the confirmation email when someone new signs up. That confirmation email is coming from wordpress@theirdomain.com. They'd like it to be webmaster@theirdomain.com.

    Any help?

    Might use something like wingrep and search the core code for the FROM: string and make the change there.

    That link put me in the right direction, although that plugin wasn't necessary.

    I found out from the comments below, and from http://wordpress.org/support/topic/122307?replies=13 that I just needed to edit this line in /wp-includes/pluggable.php:

    $from_email = 'wordpress@' . $sitename; (line 223)

    I was also able to alter $from_name, but does anyone know how to change the $subject for these emails? I don't think the value is set on pluggable.php.

    yeh you can also change ur subject. in the same page find this tag

    wp_mail($user_email, sprintf(__('[%s] Your Subject Text Goes Here'), get_option('blogname')), $message);

    and if u want to remove ur blog title before subject heading than u just remove [%s]
