I run a city website with wordpress and I use the Church WordPress theme by Brian gardner, and it displays the entire post. I'd rather it display an excerpt or summary of the post; or the title of the post only. How can i shorten what the post says when they appear under parent categories??
Please help.

Yes there is but I have that option selected and it still displays the entire text.

Search the forum or check the codex.
You'll need to edit theme files, as the_content() is likely hard-coded into the theme..
