Change category page to regular page

After building my last theme from scratch, I figured modifying an existing theme would cut out a lot of work. Boy was I wrong. I’m hoping someone can point me in the right direction.

The colorful bar midway down the home page currently links to the category. Originally, I intended to create a custom category page for each category, but now think that it would be better to create a page for each item. The problem is that I’m not sure how to edit this “menu” to tell it to link to a page rather then display the category. This is not listed in the WordPress Menu area. This theme came complete with a control panel, and I don’t see any options for this menu except for changing the color. I’ve glanced through the PHP files, but am not really sure what I’m looking for. Any insight would be appreciated.
