  • I set up several multisite blogs.

I want to change the owner of some of these.

There appears not to be a way to do this.

    What’s all that about then?

  • Where do you expect to see “owner” listed?

Anyway, any user can be added as the administrator to any blog(Dashboard->Users or SuperAdmin->Sites->Edit). But that isn’t an owner. A blog can have several(or none) admins.

Any user can go to their Dashboard->My Sites and set their “Primary Site”. Primary is not owner either. Many users can share the same blog as their primary, but any one user can have only one primary. SuperAdmins can’t change a user’s primary without a plugin.

I’m guessing that the detail you’ve overlooked is the E-mail address(for “admin purposes”) setting under Settings->General.

My expectations are not relevant. I am using buddypress, I’m not sure if that is relevant.

If I set up a buddypress multisite network and have the blog directory enabled, using the default buddypress theme, when I click on ‘blogs’ I see a list of blogs with an avatar next to the title. Perhaps it’s an issue with that theme. I set up some blogs as super admin, my avatar is shown next to the blogs. Some of these blogs are now managed by others and I would like their avatar to be listed with the blog title. I have made them administrator of the blog, I have changed the admin email address for the blog to theirs, but still my avatar is featured next to the blog listing. As super admin I can’t remove myself from the administrators list. Oddly, if they log in and list Blogs>all they see my avatar next to the blog title, if they click ‘Blogs >My blogs’ they see the same blog listed with their avatar shown.

I appreciate your effort to solve this but I am still stuck.

“I can’t remove myself from the administrators list”

Visit the blog’s Dashboard->Users and use the “Bulk Actions” rather than the quick edit buttons to remove SuperAdmin from a blog user list.

I don’t want to remove my account, I have posts on the blog. I can’t change my role to editor or author, I have tried but nothing happens. The only bulk action is ‘remove’. Do you know if their is a way to do this without removing my account?
    thanks.

I decided to remove myself on 2 blogs. Now on one the blogs in the list avatar of the editor is shown instead of the admin, on the other the avatar of an author is shown, in preference to the editor, or admin user accounts.

If the blogs have to show the avatar of one of the users next to the title (I think it would be better to choose and avatar for the blog) surely you should be able to choose a user, but I can’t see any way.

It seems to use the avatar of the first registered author or above.
If I put myself back as a user of the blog it uses mine again.
    I’ll look at the theme.

    It’s not the theme.

Have you asked over on the buddypress forums? Since the avatar display feature is coming from that?

Oh yes… so it is, – I’ll ask over there, thanks.
