So I’ve searched the database, and I couldn’t find an answer to this exact question.

Let me set this up for you, and hopefully this will make sense.

When I installed wordpress on my site, I installed it in a sub directory called “news,” and I set it up so that the index page of the main directory was where the blog would load. I changed that setting just fine in the general settings in the admin backend.

We’ve decided to change it, so that the index page is not the blog anymore (we’re putting up a splash screen you have to clik on to enter the site), and have the blog go back to /news.

When I go to the settings and try to change the blog address back to the news sub directory, and I hit “save changes” it looks as if it’s going to load, but the settings revert back to the main url.

The site works fine, but when I try to click on the individual blog to leave a comment, it sends me back to the index page using the url of the post from the main url http://www.url.com/?p=526″, which sends me back to the index page. So, I’m not able to read the rest of the blog or leave comments.

Any ideas on what could be causing this?

Thanks for your help in advance.

Ok, nevermind. I figured it out on my own.

I forgot that I had changed the functions.php file in the theme to always use the url to the main directory.

I’ve changed that, and it is now working.

    A lesson for the n00bs.
