The goal is to get my main keyword on all page URLs both when browsing the page, and on the green URL in Google search results. Many sources say this will improve search results, and by my own doing, my domain name doesn't contain my keyword in full.
While on the homepage, I would like the URL to show: website.com/keyword
On sub-pages like 'contact us' I would like the URL to show: website.com/keyword/contactus
How to do this, and is there anything to watch out for??

Actually, there is no need for you to have your main keyword in your Contact Us or About or main homepage. It is not an important criteria that your URL does not use your keyword.
What is important is that your title of each post has a one or more keywords or key phrases. This is because when someone searches using a particular keyword or key phrase Google will decide which web page to list. You need to present a relevant topic so that the person who is searching finds something relevant to what he is looking for. Otherwise you will make a bad first impression and may lose a potential visitor / customer for good.
What you will find is that you should have many posts each using different keywords so that somewhere, someone will find you blog and hopefully find the info provided useful. If you focus on only one keyword for your whole blog you may find that only people going to page 3 or 10 or 20 in a Google search list visiting your site as there will may be many blogs / sites using that same keyword, for that particular keyword. And many will have websites with a higher ranking than yours and theirs will be on page one of Google.
