   I am using a silver light theme for my wordpress blog and I like it. You can find it here: http://themes.wordpress.net/columns/2-columns/4366/silver-light-01/

   Now how can I make this theme from 2 columns to 3 columns? I know I need to change the css files, just don't know what needs to be changed.

   You need to change way more than just the css file...
   If you have to ask how to do it - it won't be easy, sorry.
   Better try to find a 3 col theme that suits your needs.
