CGI program not found (1 post)

I am using wordpress 2.6.1 due to the version of PHP my University has installed on their servers.

I have been able to establish a connection to the database and can load the first wordpress installation page that asks for your "blog name" and "email address".

However, upon clicking "install wordpress" I receive the error "CGI program not found". Even after some intense googling I am still unsure how to begin troubleshooting this problem. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

NOTE: For troubleshooting purposes I am authenticating to the database as root.

    Thank you,

    Jacob
