    I think it would be helpful if plugins in the directory could have a security rating.. like a "certified organic" sticker.

    Understood. Maybe one day groups could apply to become "authorized certifiers".. then they could issue these certifications to plugin developers, possibly for a fee. I say this for selfish reasons of course.. ultimately I'd like to be able to tell which plugins won't jeopardize the security of my professional sites without having to dig through the plugin code myself ;-)

  4. The fee wouldn't happen, I'm pretty sure ;)

    I would consider what Devpress is doing: http://devpress.com/blog/launching-a-theme-and-plugin-review-service/ It sounds like what you're thinking.
