• Hi – I have a site running on WordPress 3.0. There are one or two pages out of 36 total site pages that I can no longer update.

If I go into the page, type in some new text, hit “update”, the browser spins forever and never updates the page. Eventually, I will get a timeout error.

However, I can go and remove the new text I just typed, hit “update”, and it goes through fine. This is only happening on two pages in my entire site.

I have tried different browsers – no luck. I have disabled all plug-ins – no luck. I have even deleted the page, recreated from scratch, and had the same problem happen again.

    Any ideas?

  • Have you tried switching to the 2010 theme to rule out any theme-specific problems?

Yes – tried that, and had the same problem. I applied the new WP3.0 default theme, tried going to the specific page, adding some text, click “update”, and the browser kept spinning. I feel comfortable saying it is not a plug-in or theme issue at this point.

Have you tried resetting the plugins folder by FTP or phpMyAdmin? I’ve literally just had confirmation of an apparently inactive plugin still causing problems in WP 3.0.

Yes, I followed the instructions for resetting the plugins folder, with no luck.

The first time I reset the plugins folder, I WAS able to add a couple of sentences to the page in question and it updated. However, once I tried to edit the page again I was back to the same problem (“update” button spins forever, never actually updating the page).

Can you try the phpMyAdmin method? I have come across the odd case where this was the only way to kill a particularly resistant plugin.

OK – I have installed the phpMyAdmin plug-in… what exactly am I looking for?
