Centering Navigation or Add Container

I want to be able to add a small container around my bullets with a background color THEN center it (so that it doesn’t take up the entire width of the slider). Currently as it is there is no way to do that. The tutorial on the website again, takes up the width of the slider. Is there a way I can go into the plugin and add a container surrounding the navigation OL so that I can center the OL itself with a background color?

As an example, this slider has a background around the bullets and centered. That’s sort of what I’m going for but to use margin: 0 auto; I need a parent / container item.
