   Hello,

   Say I have a blog at http://www.domainname.com/blog

   I set up a Category/Category Slug called snowboard

   Is a URL for the the catgory name automatically supposed to be generated?

   Like:

   http://www.domainname.com/blog/category/snowboard?

   or

   http://www.domainname.com/blog/snowboard?

   nothing like that shows up. Do I have to do something to set it up?

   Depends on how your permalinks are set up.

   Have you read through the codex? What code are you trying to use to call the categories?

   Hi,

   I have left my permalinks empty(default).

   I am under the impression that there should be a URL generated automatically. Am I wrong?

   Care to link me to your site, and the link will not be generated unless there is a call for it someplace on your theme.

   Im just testing stuff out:

   http://christobias.ca/blogtest/

   What I want to do is have a URL for each category for example

   http://christobias.ca/blogtest/cars
   http://christobias.ca/blogtest/snowboarding

   etc if that is possible.

   Refer to this, you have to edit your permalinks or it will not work the way you want i t to

   Ok, I got it.

   If you have default option selected your categories wont show up in that URL format.

   argh, such a simple thing!

   I also got the plugin that removes the "category base"

   I really appreaciate the help. Thank you!

   Ideally you shouldn't use category based permalinks.
   http://ottopress.com/2010/category-in-permalinks-considered-harmful/

   example.com/category/cat_name

   Is the standard category URL for any of the provided (anything but default) permalink structures.
