Category URLs Not Working (4 posts)

    Hello everyone,

A few days ago, all of the URLs to the categories on my site stopped working:
    http://www.samueljscott.com/

I had experimented with different Category plug-ins (like to insert a menu in the left sidebar and remove the "/category/" in the URLs for SEO purposes. However, I didn't like the plugins, so I deactivated and then removed them. Shortly thereafter is when I think the URLs stopped working (in different ways).

Here are two examples of the ways that the category URLs are not working:

    1. http://www.samueljscott.com/category/us-politics/ This Category URL is either going to the home page directly or going to a 404 page and then redirecting to the home page through a 404 plug-in

    2. http://www.samueljscott.com/category/business/ This Category URL is going to an individual post in that category

All of the Category URLs are doing one of these two things. I checked permalink structure and the URL slugs of the categories, and everything is correct. So I do not know the problem. The categories are listed in the left sidebar and below the headlines of each post.

If anyone has any thoughts, I'd love to hear them -- and perhaps other people are having the same problem? That seems to be the case in this Category thread in these forums...

Try resetting your custom permalinks back to the default setting. If this works, then review Using_Permalinks before setting a custom permalink structure back up again.

Esmi, thanks so much for your help!

However, I cannot set the permalinks back to default because the layout as "p=123" makes all the links to my blog posts turn into 404s. All the URLs of posts have the year, month, date, and name.

Still, I did confirm that nothing is in the category-base field so that the structure is /category/ -- and the problem still exists. Any other possibilities? Thanks again!
