   The built-in categories sidebar widget allows you to have the post count per category automatically displayed (by checking the "show post counts" box).

   How can I replicate this feature in the navigation menu?? I'm using the built-in navigation menu builder and have added categories to my menu - can I display the number of posts in each category in the menu as well??

   I'v been trying to find a php solution to this problem and a few solutions have come close, but nothing has worked as yet.

   Would be really grateful for some help!!

   Not when using custom menus, no.

   Thanks esmi - is there no way of hacking the menu with php?

   It seems odd that this isn't possible...

   No. You'd effectively have to build your own custom menu system.
