Category links do not work

    Hello,
    I posted into “Installation” by mistake and I don’t know how I can delete the post there, so I am just posting it here, too…. sorry… 🙁

    I am a complete newbie to wordpress and I just installed it and uploaded a new theme.
    This far, everything works.

    When I click on the category or archive links on my frontpage, it just takes me to the root of my domain and not to any category or archive page… why??

    Can anybody help me???

    I have to set the site up as soon as possible but I am completely stuck with this :-((

    I managed to find a solution for my problem:
    I had a file index.html in my wp root folder, where the index.php is located. Since the category links seem to be relative (only ?id=whatever) it always loaded the index.html when clicking on a category link since index.html seems to be stronger than index.php….

    When I delete the index.html, everything works fine…

    Hope I managed to explain what I mean 😉
