Category ID different on a Category page

Hello!

I am creating a CATEGORY template. Everything is going fine, except when there’s a post with more then ONE category. When I use $cat->cat_ID, it gives me the “highest” category ID, not the one that I am seeing.

For example, if I am seeing the category with id “1” and I have a post on “1” and “2”, it gives me the “2” id, not the “1”. Seems that the category is behaving like a post.

How can I solve that, please? =]
