• I remember seeing a site that had really cool little icons in the sidebar for each category in their category lists. The icons looked like the colorful rectangular bars that technorati or blogshares have, but on this site they had the category name in them.

Can’t remember the site, but has anyone ever seen anything like this or know how I could do it? Did a search of the forum topics, but only find info on putting category icons with individual posts, not in the sidebar itself.

    Any ideas?

  • I don’t recall seeing such a site but I would very much like to. I am thinking perhaps the site’s author used the technique discussed (but not approved 0f) here:

I’m just speculating, since I don’t know what site you are referring to.

Couldn’t you just make them ?

Create the buttons, then hardcode the category url into the sidebar ?

Podz – hardcoding it is easy, but it would be much more elegant to have an automated means of including an image with (or instead of) a category for the sidebar (aka wp_list_cats). I know that c2c had mentioned the possibility of having his Category Images plugin extend to this, but I don’t know if it went anywhere.

    Thanks folks,
I wish I could remember the site. And I could be wrong. I’m new to this. I’ll keep poking around and if I find the site or anything else, I’ll post it.
