Category highlighting in custom menu not working Twenty Eleven

    Hello,
    I have a custom menu with 1 category and several pages as navigation menu and am desperately trying to get the category menu item to highlight when active.
    Actually it works in the category overview, but when on a single post, the menu link is not highlighted as specified by the css.
    Already been looking for several hours for a solution….
    Also found the following, but that doesn´t help as well.

    Really hope, someone can help me, this must be quite commen issue.
