• Why is there no option for categories in the write page editor?
I want to organise static pages in categories not just posts (as i dont want a blog – i want a CMS)

Is there a plugin or does anyone know how to modify the functionality?

  • If you are interested in CMS there are several open source alternatives like Drupal. However, you can use WordPress as a basic CMS. Check this out:

Essentially it looks like there’s one post per category.

rburnie…you can set subpages of pages if you want to categorize your static pages. It also works, as Java pointed out, if you setup your post categories with single posts. You can use permalinks to create friendly links, and simply remove the ‘date’ and ‘author’ type tags.

Not knowing what type of info and how you want your page navigation set up makes it hard for others to give explicit instructions…but there are several ways to approach this.
