Sorry guys to be a pain.

Under Admin, Manage, you can add a New Category and put a Description. However, this description does not show up for the user to see and that is what I want. I would like a description under each category for the user to see on the home page.

In my search I found this

    http://codex.wordpress.org/Template_Tags/category_description

but not sure if that is the right reference for what I want to do. It seems to be talking about displaying the category description on a page while i'm talking about displaying the description of the category on the blogs home page where the categories are listed -- did that make sense?

If for some reason the above link is the reference I want, I'm still confused on where to place the code.

Sorry, for being such a rookie. I'm trying to learn as much as I can but I do run into brick walls. Mostly because I don't understand the post to be sure it is what I want.

Thanks for any help you can give on this matter.

    Steve

To my knowledge, the closest you'll be able to get to that is to have the category's description be a title element for the category listing. In other words, when you hover over the link to the category, the description will appear layered above it. Use list_cats for that: http://codex.wordpress.org/Template_Tags/wp_list_cats
