Multisite isn’t for mapping categories. You can make a SITE for each ‘category’ if you want, but I don’t know of a way to push the WP per-site cats to subdomains.
He’d have to post them to the subdomains to start with.
Thanks for the responds. But the plugin above will create new blog, isn’t it?
I’m just curious if is it possible to make a website with WordPress MS like this one: http://www.kompas.c*m. This site build with Code Igniter.
Pls look at the menus. Its category links to various subdomains. Every category has its own theme similar to main website. Latest news in left side links to various subdomains, features/headline news from various categories/subdomains. And offcourse, every section/category in the frontpage display latest news from its subdomain.
If we search the archive, no double posts. It’s mean every post archived in its own subdomain.
So, I concluded if once category/subdomain have new posting, it will be update automatically to main page (kompas.c*m). May be I’m wrong? 🙂
Pls be patiently help me, ok? Thx again
Right, if you do that on MS while they may LOOK like categories, in reality they’re sub sites. It’s a terminology thing 😉
wordPress categories are a very specific thing, you see.
But the plugin above will create new blog, isn’t it?
No. You tell it to post to the main site. THe permalinks will be to the SUB sites.
There will not be double posts.
It does what you want.
For Ipstenu:
After I browsed the web, I have found one example of website which related to my question. This site based on WordPress MultiSite. Please check this site:
http://www.blogdetik.c*m
That’s what i mean 🙂
WordPress.com shows the similar with website above BUT built with TAGS. Pls look at:
http://en.wordpress.com/tags/ or http://en.wordpress.com/tag/politics/
For Andrea:
Before I install my WordPress MS, would you tell me if
http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/wordpress-mu-sitewide-tags/ will create the result like http://blogdetik.c*m or like http://en.wordpress.com/tags and http://en.wordpress.com/tag/politics/ ? Ty
Yes. That’s *exactly* what it does.
see it at http://homeschooljournal.net
Right, those aren’t WP Categories, like I said, they’re SUB SITES. Totally separate. Andrea’s plugin is 100% correct 🙂 Just stop callin’ them Categories. Call them Blog Categories if you must, but if you keep saying ‘Categories’ you’ll get a lot of people really confused 😉
Solved! Thanks Andrea and Ipstenu. Both of you help me kindly 🙂
