The Bootstrap
[resolved] Category Archives page ONLY not rendering with proper margins (5 posts)

    I'm building http://blog.greenlightmusic.com/ with a bunch of custom CSS from their other main site, and I've managed to get around most of their wackiness, but theres one nut i haven't been able to crack.

    For some reason, the category archives on the site don't render with the proper margins (almost like the container style isn't rendering correctly).

    When I resize the browser down, the responsive resizing seems to 'fix' it, so somehow only the 'full browser' version gets screwed up.

    None of the other archives (author, etc) have this issue, and I've gone through code trying to find references to anything unique to the category page that would cause it to act so randomly, but I would love it if someone would offer some help on this.

    It's one of those things where I'm sure its something dumb but I'm too close to it to see it.

    Thanks in advance!

    I inspected the page that works and the page that doesn't work with Firebug. On the page that works, <body> takes up the whole page. On the page that doesn't work, <body> is only the content area. So I suspect the problem is with the styles on <body>.

    When I look at the styles on <body> with Firebug, I see .content {float:left;} coming from http://blog.greenlightmusic.com/?custom-css=1&csblog=1&cscache=6&csrev=9. Turning off the float makes the content center on the page.

    Of course, I've never done anything like this myself. :)

    somebody has added this to the custom styles:

    .category
    {
      float: left;
    }

    why?

    this interferes with the layout because .category is one of the body_class outputs of a category archive page;
