Category and Link aren't showing up (6 posts)

I'm trying to set up a new blog and want to put up categories and links. For example, a category would be "Cool Blogs I Like" and the link would be one of the blogs I like. I've done this with other blogs with no problem but when I enter the categories and links to those categories, they don't show up on the blog. The homepage says "no categories". I'm still using the default theme so I know that isn't the problem. Thanks for any help on this.

You need to use a Custom Menu either for your Main Nav or in the Sidebar http://codex.wordpress.org/Appearance_Menus_Screen#Custom_Links

Both are theme dependent - Please study the basic premise of the web, aka, the link (include the whole link)

I've never had a problem with categories and links with the default WP theme before. Isn't that pretty basic. I tried the custom menu but it's not showing on the sidebar either. This is weird.

I am sorry, the default theme uses Pages in the main nav and one can add a widget for categories (or a Custom Menu)...are you using .org or .com?

I'm using .com The categories I'm trying to build are for links and not posts or pages. Sorry if I'm a little slow on this. I appreciate your help. Thanks.
