categories, subcats, and posts, listed in heirarchy (3 posts)

That's what I want to show in my sidebar. I have two main categories, and one of those has three sub-cats, and most of my posts are in those three subcats. I want the top category to show in the sidebar, and the sub cats under it. I want maybe five to seven recent posts listed under each subcat. I do not want posts without categories, and I do not want categories without posts.

As far as I can tell, there is no widget that will do this fairly simply thing. I've tried category-posts. It comes closest, but it isolates each category. I can make category-post widgets for each sub cat, but there is no top category, and each sub looks like a main title, as per my template.

Is there a plugin that might be better suited to this? I have looked at category-magic, sobeks post-in-category and symbiosis as well.

I'd like to get one too. Looks like it's not so simple - demand for category change plugins seems to be really high at the mo ever since the platform has offered better support for static pages.
