Categories not showing after upgrade to 2.1 (7 posts)

I have upgraded to v2.1 and now none of my categories are showing in any templates. I am running mysql 4.1.20 and have tried searching but haven't been able to find a solution.

I have tried everything I can think off. Disabling all plugins, adding a new post and selecting all the categories, manually looking in the database, using the default theme, etc.

Does anyone have any ideas on what else to try or how to fix this?

The Category Tags in Codex describes wp_list_categories as the replacement for the old wp_list_cats. That could be your problem.

No I checked that and replaced it. I also used the default template which already had this.

Do you see your Categories to the right when you Write a new Post?

Wonder if it's some plugin causing it.

Another thought, you mentioned you changed your Theme to the 'default' theme and it doesn't work--are you sure you got the 2.1 version of the default theme uploaded?

I have done some further debugging and this is what I have found.

If I import the database to localhost which is running mysql 5.0.27 I have no issues with the categories. When it is running on the host with 4.1.20 I do not see the categories.

I am really not sure if this is the problem since the requirements for v2.1 is MySQL version 4.0 or greater
