    hi...

apologies if this has been asked before; i did a quick search and i wasn't able to find it.

when you have your categories displayed, there is a bracket after each one showing the number of posts in each category.

how would i move the bracket with the number inside the category link phrase, so that instead of a link going category (number), it'd go category (number)?

if i can't do that, then as a backup plan, how would i get rid of the bracketed numbers altogether?

    thanks in advance.

To turn off showing the count, use the optioncount parameter in list_cats()

The same is used in wp_list_cats()

    thanks for that...

i have a pretty basic understanding of php. i've found the <?php wp_list_cats(); ?> bit in the sidebar.php file - i presume this is what i have to modify. how do i add the optioncount parameter to it?

secondly, does this mean that there is no option to move the category-count brackets inside the link phrase? this would be better than getting rid of them altogether...
