   Out of no where my categories have disappeared! and now all my posts are uncategorized. I have no clue what just happened cause I have not installed any plugins or done any changes and I did not upgrade!. Can this be a cause from the host or was I hacked?

   I just had the same problem - my categories disappeared and I when I create new catgegories, they're not showing up, either. Does anyone know what the problem might be? Please let me know and thanks so much for your time, Liz

   update your plugins, specifically all-in-one SEO if you have it. that should fix it

   I had this same problem, but now my categories are back. :) I'm not exactly sure which step worked, but something went right during the following steps:

   1. Updated all my plugins
   2. Requested my host restart MySQL
   3. Ran this SQL script in myPHPadmin:
      UPDATE wp_term_taxonomy,wp_terms SET wp_term_taxonomy.description = wp_terms.name WHERE wp_term_taxonomy.term_id = wp_terms.term_id
   4. Checked/repaired database
   5. Backed up my database (in case I had to restore an older version and things didn't work out)

   My categories still weren't back when I looked, but I hesitated to restore an older database backup. Then, about an hour later, my categories reappeared. I don't know which step did it, but it definitely wasn't my permalinks. xP

   Kishoremylavarapu, need more info from you. At what point did your categories disappear? In other words, what were you doing immediately before that happened? And apparently there's an issue with All in One SEO so maybe that's the problem?

   I dont know how..but now all my categories and tags are cameback.Anyway now i am happy.But i didnt do anything.I just waited for 24hrs.
   After 24hrs everything set right.
