   Sorry as I am sure this is an easy question but I have been searching post and did not find my answer.

   Basically when my blog is loaded "Link to my blog"
   it shows a full content list of everything and then when you click on a category it shows a summary how can I swop that so that when it loads it shows just a summary and when clicking on a category it shows everything?

   Template_Tags - see the difference the_content vs. the_excerpt
   You should edit your template files to "swap" the template tags.
   To figure out which template file is used in different views > Template_Hierarchy
