autowinAll of our categories and tags are suddenly missing, and the area on the front page that usually displays our categories and tags just says "uncategorized" in some weird giant font. This also happened on Saturday. On Saturday we scoured the search forums and tried everything recommended by others who'd experienced the same problem, such as check the /tmp folder on the server to make sure it isn't filled up and turning off plug-ins. None of these solutions worked. Around 6:30 PM PST, the categories and tags re-appeared magically, not from anything we did. Now today, circa 7am PST, the categories and tags are once again missing. Also our smart slide-deck at the top (for feature posts) doesn't have anything in it.
We see them in the dashboard -- 37 categories, 936 tags. but when i go to posts>categories, it says "no items found" and does the same thing for tags.
All the information exists in the database still, it's just not relaying to the website. Our server (hostgator) says it's not their problem; we run on a dedicated server. our website was launched in march 2009 and is very highly-trafficked and is how I make a living, so this is really difficult for us to repeatedly deal with.
Furthermore, all feature images from before December 2011 are missing and the galleries for each individual post are missing (although the images do show up in the post itself), I'm not sure if this is related.
