• Hello! I desire to make a multilingual the site.
Install the plugin Polylang. And now I have next problem, please tell version of its decision, or an alternative. I want to link to the article was the same, only notation language articles, for example /en/about and /ru/about. For this reason I created categories calling them “en” and “ru”.
Posted by “About Us”(in russian language), “About” in the appropriate category.
The problem is that I thought that category are different, then I can specify the same permalink value.
Can somebody please tell whether to remove or circumvent this restriction?

    1) Tried qtranslate. But I do not satisfied that everything is stored in one the file.
And also there is a problem simultaneous
    editing.
    2) Tried xili. Not satisfied, too, that in the original question, ie links in different
    languages.

  • What you want is tricky to do as you want two opposite features 😉

You do not want to store all the translations in only one category but you want the same slug which is unique to a category.

The reason why you can have the same slug in Qtranslate and Xili is because the category is unique for all translations. Qtranslate saves the translation directly in the database ans Xili in a mo file.

How i can do something like this: /ru/about and /en/about? Because WordPress forbids me the same end, he corrects the second value in about-2.

It’s impossible to have the same slug as WordPress forbids it. The only thing that you can do is enter the slug yourself when you create the category: for example about-ru and about-en. You can modify the slug automatically created by WordPress too.

For posts and pages, you can also modify the permalink either in the edit post panel or in the quick edit form.

Even if you use the new feature that will be included in 0.7 which will allow you to add the language code in url for posts, pages and terms, it will not allow you to use the same slug.
