   I'm wondering if it's possible to "filter out" say Updates from the main blog, but when you go to the Updates category by itself, it shows up (filtering out whatever the other category in the post was)

   If that's not possible, is it possible just to filter out say updates off the main page?

   I'm using 1.2 by the way.

   Ah, I don't know if this tag will work in 1.2, but check it out:

   http://codex.wordpress.org/Template_Tags/wp_list_cats or http://codex.wordpress.org/Template_Tags/list_cats

   And use the "exclude" parameter.

   no i don't think those will work, thats for the category list, but it gave me an idea!
