Hi! I am new to WordPress, I just got it today, I love it. Really great and easy to use. But I had a small question, is there a way to remove categories completely?

ALL categories? Just remove the tags that refer to them from your theme.
An individual category? Log in as Admin. Go to Manage -> Categories. Find the one you hate and click "delete."
Is one of these in the right ballpark?
