The Catalog tab has been removed in favour of having all the settings in tabs that make more sense. In previous versions, the Catalog tab was a weird one amongst a properly structured admin panel. It didn’t really contain a specific set of settings…
All of the settings are still in different tabs now. If you’re looking for something specific, I can point out where you can find it now.

I am not able to find settings that were under catalog settings
like column count and product count – it was something added by my theme and showed up in catalog settings – now with catalog gone I am unable to find where to change these settings
