Catagory and Archives drop down

Hello,
I would like to be able to have my archives months and catagories in drop downs (septerate ones) as its much sexier.

Ive tried codes like

<?php dropdown_cats(optionall, ‘all’, ‘sort_column’,’sort_order’, optiondates, optioncount,
hide_empty, optionnone, selected, hide); ?>

but they just return massive errors, is there no better code, or plugins to do this for me?
