I will do some tests and provide a fix if this is not working correctly with the next update.

Okay – just wondering if maybe anyone else was experiencing this problem.
Thanks for the help!
R.J.
Nobody complained but does not mean that there’s maybe a problem with this… The Poor Guy offers a lot of options… and probably not a lot of the people using the plugin need to restrict the shopping cart.
I will dig into this during the weekend.

Hello Innervates.
I’ve checked this and the setting works. Maybe you confuse items and item quantities for each individual item in the cart.
If you set the allowed maximum of items in the cart to 2 for example each of the two allowed items may be bought several times, e.g. first item 10 times and second item 20 times but you won’t be able to add a third item.
That’s the way it’s thought. To restrict the allowed quantities for items you dispose of additional options.
Could you please reply, if this solves your question, concerns? If there’s no response I will close this thread within the next 48 hours.
Regards.

Okay – so that’s weird then.
So the way it’s worded is weird – you might want to change it so it reads
“Maximum Number of Different Product Types” – because “Maximum Cart Items” and the comment of “Maximum of items allowed” sounds like Total maximum number. See, we’re trying to find a way so that our clients can ONLY purchase 10 products total – regardless of what TYPE of products they are. Either they can buy 1 of each 10 different products, or they can buy 10 of 1 product – but only 10 maximum total.
In your example – the customer would have 30 items in the cart, that has a maximum of 2 items… so that’s confusing.
Okay – well I guess there isn’t any way for your plugin to do what I need π
On to the next one I guess.
Why should it read Different product types? It’s not different product types, it’s different products (=items), all items/products could be of the same type. But I will check if this is confusing once again.
Coming to your needs… You want that the total sum of all product quantities does not exceed a specified amount. I will keep this one on the wish-list.
Regards.
uh
thanks – usually a Product means an individual item. If I buy 5 Cell phones, I have purchased 5 products – even if they’re all the same TYPE of product π
Thanks though! I think I’m going to try and write this myself.
The plugin allows you to restrict the item quantities for a product like Cell phone X. You want something else. You want that the sum of all quantities for different products can be restricted. That’s a slightly different approach. Sorry, that this is not possible right now and good luck.

Hello Innervates.
I’ve implemented the feature as I was already working on an update and the feature you asked for, will be interesting for more than one user.
Will be available in the next update that I will publish today.
Regards.

Well this is great news! This will save me some work on Monday. Thank you!

1.9.4 is available.
The aggregate minimum and maximum settings for item quantities will throw a message to correct the problem for the cart on adding and on update and an error during checkout avoiding checkout (with redirect to the cart).
This should be customer friendly and I hope this meets your expectations.

Hello Innervates.
Could you confirm that this works for you?
Thanks.
uh
so far it looks like it works great, I do have a plugin conflict with WooCommerce Thumbnail Input Quantities – this plugin allows customers to add items directly from the product archive page, it doesn’t throw a warning or anything, and adds the quantity to the cart – however, this isn’t a big deal, nor your problem.
I tested the new addition, and it seems to work – it gives a warning message. I’m going to edit the plugin so I can change what the warning message says – I’ll just have to find where that’s at.
Thank you!
R.J.
Thanks for your feedback. I will include a possibility to edit messages thrown by the plugin in one of the next updates as it’s not a good thing to edit the code directly.
