I installed Jetpack activated Carousel.
Created a Post for a photo gallery in Brick And Mason theme (http://themeforest.net/item/brick-mason-premium-photography-and-blog-theme/245497).
In HTML mode, I added [gallery link="file"] and in Visual mode clicked top left icon and added photos in Media.
View the page:

When I click the an image the Carousel should appear, instead it appears as a jpg on a page with grey background:

I looked at http://blog.michelnafziger.com/advertising-hanro/ and it appears you are currently using a prettyPhoto plugin of some kind for the images, not Carousel.
In HTML mode, I added [gallery link="file"] and in Visual mode clicked top left icon and added photos in Media.
That's the problem though, you should enter [gallery] not [gallery link="file"] if you don't want the gallery images to link directly to the jpg files.

I removed prettyPhoto from scripts.js and footer.php from http://www.themolitor.com/2011/05/brick-mason-premium-wordpress-photography-and-blog-theme/. I can provide the code I deleted if needed.
jetpack (http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/jetpack/) was installed last week and all new post (portfolios: http://blog.michelnafziger.com/san-francisco-paris/ for example) should show the image in the full-screen slideshow.
Regarding HTML mode, I used [gallery] (see http://blog.michelnafziger.com/west-10th-street/), but the images still appear on it's own jpeg page, not the slideshow.
